DAXXIFY® Cost & Results: Get Your Questions Answered

There is no shortage of BOTOX® alternatives to reduce frown lines between the eyes and other wrinkles caused by facial muscle movements. Still, most people say “BOTOX” when referring to anti-wrinkle injections, much like Kleenex® is commonly used to refer to facial tissue. DAXXIFY, though, may change that.

Why? Because clinical studies show that DAXXIFY results can last months longer than BOTOX and alternatives. Because DAXXIFY is still gaining traction in aesthetics, even patients who have heard of it have questions about cost, results, and whether it’s right for them. In this post, we’ll answer some of those questions and explain how it compares to BOTOX.

DAXXIFY FAQs

What is DAXXIFY?

DAXXIFY is a neuromodulator like BOTOX, Dysport®, and other products that work by temporarily blocking the release of the neurotransmitter that causes muscle movement. This smooths dynamic wrinkles, such as worry lines (‘the 11s’), crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles, and prevents the formation of new lines. What sets DAXXIFY apart is the presence of a peptide attached to the neurotoxin. This stabilizing peptide enables targeted muscles to absorb more of the active ingredient, leading to longer-lasting results. DAXXIFY is approved by the FDA to treat worry lines, but we use it to treat the same lines and wrinkles as BOTOX.

How long does DAXXIFY last?

You can expect to enjoy the results of your DAXXIFY injections for 6 to 9 months, based on clinical trials performed before the FDA approved Daxi for treating frown lines. The longevity of the results is several months longer than BOTOX, Dysport, Jeuveau®, and XEOMIN®. You’ll see results within a day or 2 of treatment, quicker than the 5 to 7 days it takes to see initial BOTOX results.

How much does DAXXIFY cost per unit?

The cost of DAXXIFY varies from practice to practice, depending on the injectors’ location, experience, and training. In general, DAXXIFY costs more per unit than BOTOX and similar products. But because it lasts about twice as long, you’ll need fewer treatments to maintain the results. For example, a typical BOTOX treatment costs about $400. That’s $1,600 annually for 4 treatment sessions (once every 3 months). A DAXXIFY treatment may cost $600, but you’ll likely need only 2 treatments per year, totaling $1,200.

How long does BOTOX last?

In general, BOTOX lasts 3 to 4 months. Of course, some patients may experience results that last a month or two longer, depending on the treatment area and how fast their bodies metabolize the drug. It is common for first-time BOTOX patients to experience shorter results initially but enjoy longer-lasting results after ensuing treatments.

How much does BOTOX cost per unit?

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, BOTOX typically costs $10 to $15 a unit, and an average dose requires 30 to 40 units—meaning the cost for each BOTOX treatment usually sits between $300 and $600. As with DAXXIFY, BOTOX treatment costs vary significantly depending on unique candidate needs, geographic location, and provider.
